When we do workshops, we show how PBS resources can be plugged into all kinds of fun learning situations, whether in schools or child care centers, in the car or bus, or at home. We have a huge, free collection called PBS LearningMedia that includes both PBS KIDS and some of our best prime time programs, like PBS NewsHour, NOVA, Nature, Ken Burns, American Experience, and so many others. Throughout all of our work, we talk about screen time as just one facet of a learning life, and we encourage families to develop healthy screen diets – a mix of “smart” and “silly.” We want everyone to shut off screens when they see “screen zombies” in their midst. Just in case you think that only applies to kids, we have learned that kids are really good at recognizing when their parents are screen zombies too…so maybe take a break now 😉 —Benjamin Kramer, Ph.D., Vice President of Education #TakeoverTuesday
