About the Wildflower Center

Volunteer Opportunities
- For Individuals:
- Garden: Work mornings only in the Center’s gardens, greenhouses, and other designated areas to assist with planting, weeding, mulching, watering, pruning, and propagation.
- Natural Areas: Work to maintain the Texas Arboretum as well as Wildflower Center trail systems. Duties include mulching, raking, weeding, trail maintenance, and tree care.
- Youth and Family Education: Help develop curriculum for the Center’s children’s programs, greet guests to the Little House, assist in preparing educational materials, or supervise learning stations.
- Docents: A special group of trained volunteers who represent the Center to the public. Docents complete a two-part learning program that combines classroom and field study. This training is only offered every other year.
- Gift Store: Assist customers, unpack and stock merchandise, and work the cash register. Ideally, work a weekly three-hour shift during the week or on weekends.
- Events and Special Projects: Help with one of the Center’s festivals or seasonal seminars.
- Fauna Survey: Record weekly animal and insect sightings, discuss these creatures’ identification, and watch their behaviors. Only available Thursday mornings.
- Garden: Work mornings only in the Center’s gardens, greenhouses, and other designated areas to assist with planting, weeding, mulching, watering, pruning, and propagation.
- For Groups: The Center will organize one-day volunteer opportunities for corporate groups, teams, and service organizations.
- For Community Service: Individuals can volunteer at the Center to fulfill court-ordered community service or school-required community service.
