“Imagine Art is a Christian ministry, a 501c3 nonprofit, established in 1996. We operate a creative space where 65+ artists are engaged in our community, accessing 9,500 square feet of studios and galleries.  We offer specialized supports tailored to empower artists with disabilities to create art.  Non-disabled players engage as working artists in our studios to create a diverse, inclusive space where all artists thrive. “

It’s AmeriCorps Week so we will be featuring some of the @americorps members here at Imagine Art over the next few days! Today’s story involves AmeriCorps Artist in Residence Kat Cunningham and participating artist Molly. Kat is the the instructor of our textile studio, where Molly spends a lot of her time. While Molly came into Kat’s studio already having a natural talent for knitting, Kat helped Molly gain new hard skills, enabling Molly’s creations to become more marketable ~as seen on Molly’s site titled Molly’s Magic 💫~. With Kat’s support, Molly started to pay closer attention to seasonal trends, learn new embroidery techniques, and research creative approaches for her projects. Molly said that her training with Kat helped her “put missing life pieces together". We are grateful for Kat and Molly! #americorpstexas #americorpsweek #imagineart_atx #microbusiness #fiberart
