About SARA
“SARA Organization (Syrian American Refugee Aid) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Austin, TX. We were founded in 2015 by Syrian Americans to aid vetted Syrian refugees as they transition into their American lives. We welcome and mentor our new neighbors and provide them a sense of community. We assist with education and career opportunities so they can become contributing members of our society.“

Volunteer Opportunities
- Family support specialist: You will be assigned to a refugee family to be their advocate and facilitator in order to help ease their transition and settling experience.
- ESL teacher: Teach English to refugees, both adult and school-age students.
- Tutor: Help school-age students with their homework assignments and help them better understand the subject matter at hand.
- Job coordinator: Help refugee families find suitable employment.
- Medical support specialist: Help refugees obtain appropriate medical care.
- Housing coordinator: Help refugee families apply for government housing, subsidized housing, and nonprofit-supported apartments.
- General volunteer: Help with as-needed tasks.
